Bird Flu

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Things are getting worse nowadays as Avian flu start to invade our country, scientists says it could be fatal to mankind if cure is not found soon, and non-scientists started to get paranoid, running around everywhere and scream: "don’t eat chicken!! don’t go KFC!! don’t eat eggs!!"  Even chicken feather duster are banned in class.. but as usual, there is only two words in my mind, so what!! I always believe that god determines everyone fate, even though we have our own say on our destiny. That means if got says you will get bird flu, no matter how many chickens you eat a day, even if you finish eating all the chickens in Malaysia, you still won’t get it, but if you are destined to die, not just bird flu, even when you are drinking water also you will choke to death, agree?

Best food in Penang

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Everyone knows Penang is a food heaven, with all kind of irresistible delicacies like Laksa, Fried Kuay Teow, rojak, cendol…the list goes on and on….but there is something most people don’t know, there is somewhere in Penang which is popular for its bread too..yes,no mistake,I did mention bread, the kind of bread that we eat everyday, and also its Milo and coffee. You might say, I can also make my own bread and coffee everyday, whats so special about it that I need to go all the way to Penang to find them? Well trust me,this one is certainly different.

First lets talk about the bread, its not the normal type of "Gardenia" bread that we usually eat, or the western type of bread which is round and we cut open to spread butter, its another softer kind of bread, which we can only get from Indian guys riding a bike around and shout "roti,roti.." sounds familiar? Then there is two ways of making, either you steam the bread, or its toasted inside of a traditional oven, still using coal…after that its cut and a layer of specially made kaya is spread between two layers of bread, perfectly homemade type, when you take a bite, you will immediately tell the difference.

That’s not all, this guy make the best Milo in the whole world!! Even the nescafe, its mixed with nice smell, sweet taste and a bit bitterness, perfect way to make us alert for the entire day. I just don’t know how the Milo is made, but after you try it you might never wanted to try the 3 in 1 Milo again for your whole life, if that’s not enough, you can even order a cup of half-boiled egg,yes the egg is in a cup, for  you to drink, tastier if added with pepper and soya sauce.

The best thing of all,its not in a five star hotel, everyone can afford it, the shop (not really a shop or kopitiam because its situated in a secluded turn-in street) has just about ten tables, and they are fully occupied all the time!! You might find most of them are ah peks, but recently it attracted quite lots of young couples too..And no,I am not advertising for the shop, just went today and find it good so its just a recommendation, so that when you come to Penang, don’t just look for laksa or beautiful beaches…want to know where is it situated? In Campbell street, near Komtar, just go there and ask any shops about it and they will tell you…have fun!!

p.s. The same thing apply to other things in life too, turning out with something special is not a real magic, when you can turn something ordinary into something special in your own way, then thats call magic…
