Leave us in peace

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

I recently watched a truly meaningful movie called Gubra in cinema, and a sentence at the end of the movie gives me the inspiration to write this articlei don’t really remember the exact sentence, but it sounds roughly like this.."There is a lot of different types of lamps in this world, but all gives the same light…." yes it reflects the religion in this world, there are countless of religions out there, but as long as it teaches people to be good, there is no need to fight over it. But I just don’t see that happening in the world right now..

Yes, I believe every single person have the right to believe in something, and I am not against those who tried to influence others to follow what they believe, but… there is always a limit in it, to condemn other religions in order to achieve that is totally unacceptable…There is something like this happening to me not too long ago, me and my friends are queuing up to buy tickets for a movie, in front of us is an old lady who looks friendly…she turns around and chatted with us about what are the nice movie going on and blah, blah, blah… so we thought" ok, she is nice.." and suddenly, she started something about religion, took out some kind of brochures to promote christianity, its not strange though… there is lots of people in the world doing that, right?

But….as soon as we start telling her we are not christians, that is where the trouble started… she starts her thrash talking about the god of hindu with lots of hands represents satanity, the dragon that chinese worship is actually monster… and I thought ," what? who the hell are you to have the right to say that to us?" we kept our anger, bought our ticket and left her immediately, I wouldn’t deny the fact that I would punch her right there anytime, even though we should have sympathy to old lady like her, the insult we had to take is more than what we can take…I threw the brochures she gave into the rubbish bin, without even reading it. It was not that I think the brochures deserve such treatment, but the way she speaks, I see no difference between her action and the action of a true devil…

To get the respect from others, you must start it by respecting others first… for those who use religion as excuse to start the so-called holy war, I have to say they are nothing but just a bunch of fool…no religion would ask us to sacrifice our own life to take away the life of millions of innocent people, it was a pure art of devil… so please, no matter who you are, keep to what you believe, but never forget, peace is the thing that God want to see in earth, no matter what religion HE or SHE belongs to, have mercy towards lives…

Me and the chocolate factory

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

Its still words in black, but this time its not because of life is black, its because the computer in cyber cafe just won’t allow me to type in colours!! Anyway, today I visited a chocolate factory, yes a real chocolate factory, not that one that Charlie visited, its the Cadbury one in Shah Alam. How is the experience? its erm…"awesome"

First they are having a store clearance mega sale, second today is a special day off just for our class, third its my first time visiting a chocolate factory, everything sounds so good that nothing could go wrong, right? Wrong… I could sense that it won’t be too good when I saw a long queue outside the factory, and we haven’t even manage to enter the main gate, cars parking everywhere can the queue keep getting longer and longer, and to make things worse, the day begin to get hotter and hotter, the only thing that keep me away from walking away is curiosity, I wanted to get that experience, its obviously a different motive because seems like everyone is here ready to grab tons of chocolates and I am not!!

We managed to get pass the main gate, all the way to the main entrance, which is only one extremely small door, only after more than an hour of queue, but it wasn’t easy to enter that "door to heaven". I call it that because for a lot of people, chocolate means heaven. Everyone was crowding, squeezing in front of the entrance, with frustration and impatience in their eyes, it seems like there is nothing there won’t do to get in the sales hall. There is some surprising character in the crowd, like a guy dressed formally, wearing a tie and look like someone extremely rich, it give me an immediate thought, does someone like him need to scramble in the crowd just to save few ringgit as he can shop comfortably outside and still afford buying the same kind of products?

Suddenly, an incident wakes me from my thought, that guy is having a confrontation with the guard at the entrance, it happens that the security guard try to stop him while he was barging in and accidentally banged him with elbow, and he was so upset that he scolded the guard in front of everyone. It was a disgusting behavior from him to be honest, the guard is just doing his job, preventing people from entering because the sales hall is too packed, and its his fault for trying to barge in, and the way he behave, thinking that because he is rich he has special kind of authority, is an insult to the society. For me the guard has every right to throw him right out of the factory because he just broke the rule, disregard of what kind of status he is, a rich man or a beggar.

We managed to fight our way in after spending some time in a crowd with thick sweating odor, but I would describe the situation inside the sales hall as an air conditioned pasar malam, staff screaming prices of products all the time to attract attention, people squeezing and pushing in grabbing almost everything they see, as though all those things are free, and it was a mess inside.. I find it difficult to even move… I end up buying only a pack of chocolate milk, a pack of chocolate for my friend I am going to visit tomorrow in Seremban and trying out some products.. I am not really a fan of chocolate, just here to see what a factory sale is like, now I get it…

Its true that we Malaysian have something in common, afraid to lose out in buying things when there is a cheap sale or something free… just like what happen when government invite people to eat chicken for the campaign for bird flu. Its the greed, which sees people walking out with bags of chocolates that are bigger size than their body and they would never even finish eating for their whole life!!

No regrets though, it was a memorable visit, at least it opens my eyes in many things, but to be honest, I do feel a little scared whenever I see chocolate anywhere in the shopping malls, reminds me of the visit…
